Overview

Protecting all company assets (staff, cash and property). To succeed as a Retail Health, Safety Security Manager you will need to be dedicated, undertake H&S audits training and development, respond to emergency situations, attend robberies and other serious incidents at short notice.

 

Provide support and guidance on all Security, Health and Safety matters to Area Teams. Think independently to make decisions under pressure, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to share and distil appropriate information with the senior leaders of the business efficiently and effectively. The role will require a person with a high level of attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.


Responsibilities

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Set and maintain cash loss targets
  • Complete a security audit, compile a priority list of risk shops
  • Consult area teams on security matters, following shop visits report any concerns to the area team follow up and repeat audit
  • Investigate exceptions raised by security office
  • Recommend changes to procedures/security equipment
  • Ensure all security equipment is working, all faults to be reported to the relevant contractor or maintenance department
  • Provide police with CCTV/document evidence, attend court as a witness on behalf of the company when requested
  • React to and investigate all daily reports; shop banking, cash differences, closing cash and other various procedural reports
  • Ensure banking procedures are being followed
  • Complete a risk assessment pre/post incident or accident in line with the incident response plan
  • Conduct investigations related to health and safety accident/incidents and security matters identifying root causes and solutions
  • Provide health & safety and security guidance to Area Teams and engage H&S assistants
  • Conduct health & safety audits and submit to the Head of Retail Health and Safety
  • Proactively lead health and safety engagement with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure shop teams are aware of their health and safety responsibilities – reviewing health and safety training, safe ways of working and safety equipment and use/testing
  • Raise health and safety issues with relevant departments and key stakeholders
  • Support retail area teams with health and safety committee meetings and safety guidance
  • Support health and safety department with the development, implementation and management of health and safety initiatives
  • Support local authority visits and complaints


Skills & Experience

  • Strong management and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the betting and gaming industry
  • NEBOSH certificate in General Occupational Health and Safety desirable
  • NEBOSH certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of EPOS betting tills
  • Experience of SSBT and FOBT machines
  • Excellent MS Office knowledge
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to change, including utilising new security equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • The ability to maintain the upmost discretion and confidentiality
  • Resourceful, can-do attitude
  • Ability to react to incidents and solve problems as and when they occur.
  • Ability to self-motivate and engage other team members
